Lindsy James delighted to be able to help other charities

Director of Active Fusion, Lindsy James, has been selected by Pilotlight to participate in their unique Bursary Initiative. 

Chosen as one of ten charity leaders, Lindsy will be taking part in the Bursary Initiative, which is designed to help charities develop their strategic and leadership capabilities and transform their charity. 

Due to the success of our Bursary Initiative last year, funding was secured for a new cohort of bursaries to enable charity leaders to become “˜Pilotlighters’. 

Each one will be matched with three other senior leaders from the public and private sectors, forming teams which will support charities who have come to Pilotlight in need of strategic input. 

Determined to take her leadership abilities to the next level, Lindsy was thrilled to be selected for the initiative. She said: “I am delighted to be providing mentorship for other charity CEO’s as part of the National Pilotlight programme. 

“I am looking forward to supporting other charity leaders to achieve their ambitions and to enable them to become more efficient, effective and sustainable. 

“I will also draw from the expertise from other business sector Pilotlighters to support the growth of Active Fusion.” 

Being a Pilotlighter has helped many Directors and Chief Executives improve specific aspects of their leadership style, including Angela Smith-Morgan, CEO of Leukaemia UK.  

She commented on her experience: “As a charity leader myself it has been so interesting to sit at the other side of the table, get to understand a charity in a different sector, and draw on my own experience to tease out the key issues. 

“This is an invaluable opportunity to see the full dynamic of a charity, its governance as well as its operations – so satisfying to be able to help and support a charity whilst also learning so much myself.” 

Pilotlight transforms the lives of disadvantaged people in the UK by offering charities and social enterprises access to the strategic business support they need to become more efficient, effective and sustainable. They do this by harnessing and matching the talents of their members to charities through programmes. 

Bruce McCombie, Interim CEO, Pilotlight, commented: “Pilotlight has now supported nearly 1,000 charity leaders and through the Bursary Initiative we’re enabling some of them to continue their leadership development by sharing their experience with another charity.”
