Arin’s Story: How Fusion Camps Help Young People Find Their Voice
Eight-year-old Arin returned to Fusion Camps during October half-term, eager to make the most of her time. Whether she’s riding her bike or taking her dogs for a walk, Arin is always remaining active. Fusion Camp give her the perfect chance to experience a variety of different activities that keep her engaged and excited.
Building Confidence and Connections
Arin’s main motivation for attending camp is the chance to play football. She thrives on working as part of a team, pushing herself to improve alongside others. Each time she returns, she leaves with a little more confidence, learning not just new techniques but also how to connect with people. Over time, Arin has become more open, striking up conversations with new faces and forming meaningful relationships. This has had a positive impact on her school life, where Arin now feels more confident stepping outside his comfort zone. She no longer hesitates to ask questions or approach her classmates for help.
Arin said ‘Camp make me feel happy and its a great experience overall, as there’s lots of nice people and lots of different activities, as each day is different and the coaches are all really nice and made me smile’.
Developing Inclusive Leadership: Arin’s Growth at Camp”
Arin took on a leadership role in team activities, quickly becoming a central figure among her peers. Eager to embrace new challenges, she initially struggled to give others a chance to voice their opinions. However, after we discussed the qualities of a good team leader, she made a conscious effort to involve everyone in the activities. By the end of camp, Arin had developed an inclusive leadership style, celebrating her teammates’ achievements as much as her own.

It was incredible to see the progress Arin made during her time at camp, showcasing the positive impact Fusion Campshave on young people. This particular camp aimed to create an inclusive environment where kids could build confidence, improve their social skills, and feel empowered to express themselves through Halloween-themed activities.
