Anthony Bennett revealed as Conference Headline Speaker
Motivational speaker and fundraiser Anthony Bennett, who overcame a life-threatening experience when he was young, will be sharing his inspirational story at Active Fusion’s Whole Child, Whole School, Whole You Conference in February 2021.
The Active Fusion Conference, which is taking place virtually on Friday, February 26, will focus on the power Physical Education has to improve mental and physical wellbeing. The Doncaster-based children’s charity has been able to secure Anthony Bennett as their headline speaker for the event.
Anthony learned how to walk, talk and speak again after contracting three virus infections at the same time during a trip to forget to Disneyland Paris. Anthony was given only a 10% chance of survival, but has made a full recovery and is inspiring businesses, schools, and organisations with his optimism and bubbly personality.
When asked about being the headline speaker at Active Fusion’s conference, he said: “Having had been through a life-threatening experience myself when I was a child, I can certainly relate to the importance of the work Active Fusion is doing in regards to supporting children’s mental health and wellbeing.”
After making a full recovery, Anthony played a major role in winning a £7.5m Charity Partnership between Whitbread PLC and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. The money raised went towards the construction of a brand-new cardiac hospital wing, helping at the children’s hospital to treat up to 20% more children.
Anthony will be talking about his journey and what has inspired him to help others achieve their goals no matter what setbacks fall their way.
He added: “Being the best you can be starts with a positive mindset and I’m delighted and grateful to be speaking at this year’s conference, sharing my journey with some top tips on growing a positive mind.”
Active Fusion are a charity striving to enable children and young people in Yorkshire to be physically active, through its delivery of high-quality Physical Education lessons in schools and by giving young people the opportunity to enhance their qualifications, confidence and communication through sports leadership and apprenticeship opportunities.
