New Active Fusion Apprentice Joins Our Team

We’re passionate about developing the skills of young people, and having recently taken on board a group of apprentice coaches, we spoke to Cameron, a university graduate dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of children through sport.

Cameron, who has ambitions of becoming a school Physical Education coordinator, said that he wants to gain hands on experience of working in a school and feels that Active Fusion is the perfect place for him to develop his skills. He’s already started work in Travis St Lawrence CE Primary School and is really enjoying it.

He said: “I’ve always been interested in and involved with sport but at university it became more apparent I really enjoyed teaching. I love seeing the kids learn new skills they didn’t they would pick up.

“At Travis St Lawrence I’ve started to get to know the kids as well as the teachers and staff and I’m gradually getting to grips with what it’s like to work in a school.

“At university I would always have a session plan which I would be worrying about right up until the lesson started, but as an apprentice I feel a lot more relaxed and comfortable.

“I want to show children that Physical Education is fun and as important as any other subject. Primary school is where an interest in physical activity starts for children, and I’m really keen to make sure that’s something they take with them once they leave.”
