Volunteering and Work Placements

Volunteering is great way to enhance your employability skills, get hands on experience of the workplace and improve your confidence. If you’re interested in sport and working with children there are a number of ways you can do all of the above with Active Fusion.

  • Work in schools with one of our coaches on work placement. Watch how they engage with children of different ages, backgrounds and capabilities and the various activities they teach to get children active.
  • Volunteer at our sports holiday camps. We run sports holiday camps during each school holiday to help children stay active when they’re not taking part in Physical Education lessons.
  • Volunteer at sports competitions. Assist our School Games organiser is the running of sporting competitions for primary school children across Doncaster and South Yorkshire.

All of these opportunities are a chance for you to improve your confidence and interaction with children from different backgrounds and will give you an insight into what it’s like to work with schools, teachers and parents. Volunteering will provide you with impressive hands on experience which you can use if you decide to pursue a career in sports coaching in the future.

Ben Sweeney, 25, has volunteered at holiday camps for a number of years and has improved his skills and confidence in the process.

He said: “Volunteering for Active Fusion has developed my confidence in my ability to work as part of a team and my own self-confidence.”
